Midland Information Resources (MIR) took part in two sessions at the May 3 – 7, Collaborate 09 Technology and Application Forum for the Oracle community in Orlando, Florida. The conference is designed to help users gain greater value from their Oracle software investments, solve challenges, learn about best practices, and prepare for the future.

Best Practices

Emerson Process Management and MIR demonstrated the breadth of Oracle Content Management and the extensive manner in which it has transformed the way Emerson does business worldwide.

The presentation detailed how Emerson’s implementation, in an independent study by Forrester Research, has shown 177% return on investment (ROI) annually. Keys to the content management implementation at Emerson included being able to implement across organizational boundaries, solving business process management problems, obviously creating tangible ROI and cost savings, and being able to run the business while implementing change.

MIR has been a Preferred Enterprise Content Management Consultant/Implementation Partner to Emerson since 2001. Over that time, MIR has helped Emerson build out 200+ Oracle/Stellent based applications which have:

    • Improved report distribution

    • Deployed European and Asian Content Servers allowing the management of content in different regions of the world

    • Deployed numerous Intranet and Internet websites

    • Automated processes and supported the overall Emerson lines of business

Technical Expertise

Under the Technical Tract, MIR shared its technical expertise on Oracle Site Studio Contributor Customization for the recent 10gR4 release of the product. Presentation highlights included:

    • The ease of customizing the new 10gR4 contributor look and feel

    • Custom element forms – purpose, issues to be aware of and basic development

    • Contributor console – enabling and debugging as well as providing first-hand experience on when, why and how to use this feature

To further enhance the learning experience of attendees, a demonstration and white paper was presented for each of the key sections discussed.
